1. Russian as a Foreign Language

Status: Obligatory

Entrance requirement: basic or zero knowledge of Russian

General learning outcomes: Upon the completion of the course student obtains Level B1-B2 in Russian proved by a TRKI-1/2 Certificate

Russian is the native language of some 150 million citizens of the Russian Federation. It is one of the five official languages of the UN, and ranks along with English, Chinese, Hindi, Urdu, and Spanish as a major world language. Besides that, Russian remains the unofficial language for communication in the former Soviet republics, and is widely used across all of the Caucasus and Central Asia. Russian is a major language for scientific publication, and it is an increasingly important language for business and trade as Russian institutions, both public and private, integrate with their European and American counterparts. In 2014 Russia will host a major sports event – Winter Olympic Games and a Football Championship 2012.


2. Foreign Language

Status: Obligatory

Entrance requirement: A2 – B1

Features: preparation for IELTS, BEC Cambridge Certificates

MSABA language courses is an ideal way to refresh the knowledge of the foreign language once taught or to learn a new language with in-depth study of business vocabulary in a mini-group.


3. Cross-Cultural Communication

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement: knowledge of English sufficient to understand lectures

General learning outcomes: negotiation and social skills

MSABA Cross-Cultural Communication is an exciting field of study in today’ globalized world, examining how communication happens in different societies, and how people from different societies interact. This course is designed for students working, or aspiring to work, in sectors such as business, marketing and advertising, law, government and non-government organizations. The course develops students' understanding of how languages work, how societies and cultures differ and the variety of ways in which people from different societies and cultural backgrounds communicate using languages.


4. Innovative Management/International Project Management

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement: basic knowledge of the subject, good command of English

General learning outcomes: use and apply tools for innovative management, expertise in international project management.

This course aims to equip students with an understanding of the main issues in innovation management, an awareness of the key features of success, and an appreciation of the relevant skills needed to manage innovation at both strategic and operational levels. It provides evidence of different approaches based on real-world examples and experiences of leading international firms.

5. Discovering Russia

Status: Obligatory

Entrance requirement: none

General learning outcomes: in-depth knowledge on the Russian culture, history and arts to be successfully implied in professional career
One of the most existing part of study at MSABA. This course accords with other disciplines tailored for international students enriching the curriculum with in-depth studies of the Russian culture, traditions, arts and history. Students will visit the main museums, art galleries and music halls of Moscow, Saint-Petersburgh, Kostroma, Suzdal and other cities of the Golden Ring of Russia.

6. Supply Chain Management

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement: basic knowledge of the subject, good command of English

A course for those students planning their professional careers in logistic companies. A course taught by a professional lecturer with rich practical experience from start up to spin out logistic business enterprises: “We drive growth and competitiveness by cutting costs, reducing complexity, and increasing speed, service, and flexibility. We look for ways to rationalize and streamline the network of fixed assets.”

7. Intellectual Property Law

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement:  basic knowledge of the subject, good command of English

A comprehensive introduction to the principal theories of trademark law and unfair competition, patent law, copyright law, and related state and federal doctrines.

8. International Business

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement:  basic knowledge of the subject, good command of English

This course familiarizes students with the multidimensional macro-environment of international business and teaches them the tools necessary for the analysis and evaluation of diverse problems within that environment. Basic principles and issues of international economics are introduced as well as global aspects of politics and culture. The different managerial functions within a multinational firm are examined.

9. Theory of Language and Translation (5 ECTS)

Status: Elective

Entrance requirement: B1 Level of English

Learning outcomes: skills in written and oral translation

Quick and professional translation of the business correspondence or talks are required in the companies across the globe. This course enables students to study and practice different types of translation.

10. Internship

Status: Obligatory

Duration of the course: min. 2 weeks

2 weeks of internship in the leading companies of Moscow in accordance with students' study profile are obligatory for international students. The list of employers is open and published. Students may choose the company they are interested in and apply for an internship in the chosen company. After the student's candidature is approved of by the employer, the student undertakes internship in the company he applied to.

Internship is the best way to get international work experience in the truly multinational environment, to examine the received knowledge and skills, to improve business Russian to start up your own business in/with Russia.
